Dr. Richard Neuhauss
Dr. Richard Neuhauss, born in Germany in 1855, was an anthropologist and doctor of tropical medicine. He discovered photography for academic purposes after travelling the world in 1884. Ten years later he became chief editor of the Photographische Rundschau, a German journal for amateur photographers. Being especially interested in the photographic documentation of flight, he developed specialized cameras to capture the flight of biplanes and “Vorflügelapparate”, designed by Otto Lilienthal in the late 1890s.
