August Sander Cycle Part 7 – The City

The group “The City” includes, with 134 subjects, the largest number of works throughout the entire cycle. With the works of this group Sander shows
moments from the big city life, consider the everyday, occasional sociopolitical events and at the same time emphasize the cityscape formative types. Individual works such as “Suspension Railway, Elberfeld” or “Funeral” differ from the classical composition and rather show the cityscape. Also to be found in the portfolio “Festivities,” some nice shots of the Cologne carnival.
