The group “The Skilled Tradesman” includes typological portraits of individuals representative of the traditional trade professions, such as engineers and
bankers, revolutionaries and inventors. The craftsmanship is here the connective criterion and the typical attributes of each trade are usually present in
and highlighted by the image’s composition. In addition, private and spiritual aspects of the subjects’ lives are also represented.
