Dr. Harold Edgerton, born in 1903, was an early pioneer in stroboscopic photography. His technological developments have extended our vision of the world and helped to revolutionize the medium of photography. His work includes multiflash and stroboscopic pictures from his motion capture experiments, enabling entire sequences to be illustrated on a single piece of film. Edgerton worked with the US government to develop night time aerial reconnaissance photography and photographed atomic bomb explosions. He also developed camera-less shadow photography to capture bullets midflight in their trajectory. Dr. Harold Edgerton died in 1990.
